Good kit for riding doesn't need to be complicated. You need something that moves well, looks right, and holds up over time. Here's how to think about it.
Tees: the daily driver
A pump track tee lives a hard life. It goes through sessions, washes, and more sessions. The main things to look for are a cut that lets your arms move freely, fabric that breathes when you're working, and a design that actually represents the culture you're part of.
Generic cycling graphics aren't really pump track. If the tee could work as a road cycling jersey design, it probably isn't the one.
Hoodies: the session layer
Every pump track has its cold moments. Early morning sessions. Waiting around while someone else takes a lap. The cool-down after you've been properly working. A good hoodie handles all of it.
What you want is something with a bit of weight to it, a fit that doesn't restrict when you're reaching forward over the bars, and a hood that actually stays put. Cheap hoodies lose their shape after a few washes. Buy something that'll still look good after a year of weekly sessions.
Caps: practical and part of the look
A snapback does a real job at the track. It keeps the sun out of your eyes during long summer sessions and sits comfortably under a helmet when you need to throw one on. Off the track it's part of the outfit.
The main thing is the fit. Too loose and it goes everywhere in the berms. Too tight and it's uncomfortable for a long session. Most snapbacks are adjustable, which makes sizing straightforward.
Kit for younger riders
