Dumfries and Galloway isn't the first place you'd expect a road to Beijing to start. On Sunday 14 June 2026, it was. Rocks and Wheels in Dalbeattie hosted the UK Qualifier for the Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships — the venue's first major competitive event, and one of only a handful of UK rounds the series has ever run.
The Track
Riders raced a 280-metre Velosolutions-built course featuring rollers, triples, quads, step-ups, step-downs, S-turns and a split-line option — a proper test of pump and line choice, not just raw power. Elite racing was open to riders aged 17 and over, with youth and masters categories run alongside on the day.
The Results
Albin Johansson (Sweden) took the Elite Men's win in a time of 24.674 seconds. Kristína Madarásová (Slovakia) topped the Elite Women's field in 26.569 seconds. Both, along with the rest of the top four in each category, secured a place at this October's World Championships final.

What It Means
Johansson, Madarásová and the rest of the Dalbeattie top four now head to the Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships final, taking place 16–17 October 2026 in the Mentougou district of Beijing, China — one stop on a 2026 qualifying calendar that spans 23 events across 19 countries and five continents.
For a track hosting its first major race, Dalbeattie delivered a genuine world-championship send-off. It's also rare air for UK pump track racing — Dalbeattie is only the second UK qualifier the series has ever staged, following Chopwell's round in June 2025. We'll be watching how the UK contingent gets on in Beijing this October.
