One World Championship, Built From a Global Qualifying Series
The Worlds final isn't a one-off invitational. It's the finish line of a season-long qualifying series run by Velosolutions in partnership with the UCI. For 2026, that means 23 qualifying events spread across 19 countries and five continents, running from a season-opener in Waihi, New Zealand in late February through to the final qualifiers in September — before everything converges on the World Championships final in the Mentougou district of Beijing, China, on 16–17 October 2026.
How You Actually Qualify
The format is deliberately simple: race your local qualifier, and a top-four finish in the Elite Men's or Elite Women's category earns you a start at the Worlds final. That's it. No ranking points to accumulate, no invitation list — just turn up, race the field in front of you, and finish in the top four on the day.
Most qualifiers, including the UK round at Rocks and Wheels in Dalbeattie, also run youth categories (U11 through U17) and a Masters 35+ class alongside the elite race, so it's not an event reserved purely for aspiring world champions. A qualifier weekend is built to have room for a first-timer on a hire bike and a rider chasing a plane ticket to Beijing, on the same 280-metre track.
What the Tracks Look Like
Velosolutions builds the qualifying courses to a consistent standard: asphalt pump tracks in the 250–300 metre range, featuring rollers, doubles or triples, step-ups, step-downs and banked S-turns, often with a split-line option so racers can choose their route through a section. It's pump-and-line-choice racing rather than a straight sprint — reading the track matters as much as raw output.

Qualifier entry is open registration through the official Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships calendar — no national federation licence required to have a go at your local round. With 19 countries on the 2026 calendar, there's a reasonable chance a qualifier lands somewhere within reach before the series wraps up and the road to next year's Worlds opens again.
